Cell phone contraband seized

Members of the 5th brigade and of the G2 division of the Dominican Army detained on Friday, 23 April 2021, a truck and its driver and seized 160 cell phones of different brands that were hidden in compartments inside the truck. The cell phones were hidden in the door, the roof and a package in the vehicle stopped in Barahona in the southwest. Carlos Anderson Aquino, the driver of the truck, was arrested and sent to the G2 intelligence department for investigations.

The 5th Brigade, commanded by General Pedro Pablo Hurtado Cabreja, reports having carried out 5,080 operations in April alone, seizing different illegal goods, 112 vehicles, 1608 motorcycles. 1,058 Dominicans were arrested and 1,241 foreigners in the operations, according to data from the law enforcement agency.
