Last Thursday, 22 April 2021 was Earth Day. The Dominican Academy of Science used the opportunity to raise the awareness of the need for protection of Dominican rivers. Eluterio Martínez, the former head of the Cibao Ecological Society (Soeci) and who is now the vice-president of the Academy, told reporters that river systems are highly vulnerable and care must be taken.
