The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) announced the confiscating of 450 packages of a white powder suspect to be cocaine at Caucedo Multimodal Port on Saturday, 15 May 2021. The drugs were in freight containers of animal feed in transit to Europe.
There are no arrests in the case yet. The 450 packages of the substance were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) that will determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
In only eight months, the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) has seized around 17 tons of different types of drugs, of which 95% has tested positive to cocaine. According to DNCD statistics, during this period 16,800 kilograms of substances have been seized nationwide and more than 10,000 people have been arrested.
