Earthquake affects Constanza road

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake was mostly felt in the Cibao central region. The earthquake caused damages on the Constanza-Casabito mountain road. Traffic was reopened on the Casabito-Constanza mountain road after landslides affected the curvy mountain road.

The Ministry of Public Works’ Road Maintenance Department worked with heavy equipment to restore the road and facilitate traffic. After an intense day on the part of the Ministry, the debris of earth and trees that remained in the middle of the road were removed.

The National Seismology Center of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) reported that the earthquake occurred at 8:14am some 8.7 kilometers from Maimon, in central Monseñor Nouel province, at a depth of 105.2 kilometers, at latitude 18.840 north, longitude 70.317.
