Labor Minister Luis Miguel de Camps clarified during an interview with Edith Febles on Monday, 17 May 2021, that private labs continue to authorize only one free PCR test per affiliate a year. The announcement came following the National Social Security Council (CNSS) decision that ordered the Superintendency of Health and Labor Risks (Sisalril) to temporarily suspend the resolution that limited the performance of PCR tests. De Camps says there has been confusion over the ruling.
He indicated that the Public Health resolution continues to be in effect, with PCR tests being free and without limitation at select points in the public health network, not so in private labs or clinics.
Private labs require a person to have carried out an antigen test before having access to the free PCR test. At the designated places for PCR testing in the public network, the tests are free and do not require an antigen test.
De Camps made the remark when interviewed on the morning program El Día, hosted by journalists Huchi Lora and Edith Febles.
