President Luis Abinader was at the main auditorium of the state university, UASD on 18 May 2021, to launch the Social Pact of the Dominican Republic. The Social Pact seeks to reach a consensus to reform the 30-year old Dominican Labor Code and the 20-year old Social Security Law 87-01.
“The new Dominican economy that we are building needs, right now, at this moment, long-term structural reforms that consolidate a sustainable, fair and inclusive model for all Dominicans,” said President Abinader at the launching ceremony.
He specified that the government understands that the only possible way to achieve the objectives as a country is to initiate a great transparent and inclusive social pact that listens to the voices of all sectors and involves all stakeholders.
