The special committee appointed by the Senate to choose the nation’s ombudsman, alternates and deputies, began the interviews of the candidates on Wednesday, 19 May 2021. The interviews are streamed to the general public.
Each person has five minutes to present their resume and the reasons why they should be chosen and five minutes to answer questions posed by the committee members.
The interviews to the three candidates for ombudsman will take place on Thursday, 20 May 2021 as of 2pm. The candidates are: Pablo Ulloa, Henry Merán and Fidel Santana. Former deputy Guadalupe Valdez says that the law was violated in the conformation of the shortlist for ombudsman. The law bans politicians from being considered.
