Both types of $2,000 pesos notes are legal tender

An observant cybernaut posted pictures of the Dominican $2,000 peso notes and said that one of them must be counterfeit. The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic was quick to refute the claim, informing the public that the most observable difference between the two bills is that the 2019 series has a green security stripe and the 2017 issue has a shiny, chrome-like strip.

According to the Central Bank, the 2019 series is more difficult to counterfeit and is “safer,” according to the bank. However, both bills are legal currency.
