Lots more women then men, and they live longer

Many famous comedians have made jokes regarding the longevity of women versus men. In the Dominican Republic, this is also very true, according to a recent report from the National Statistics Office (ONE).

By 2025 the difference in the number of women versus the number of men is estimated to be around 30,000, but by 2030 the difference is estimated to be closer to 50,000. The population breakdown by 2025 will be 5,454,505 women and 5,423,759 men by 2025.

Life expectancy is another issue. By 2025, women in the Dominican Republic are expected to have a life expectancy of over 78.13 years, while the life expectancy of men is forecast to be about 72.5 years. However, by 2030, the numbers are even more skewed: Women will average 79 years and men will average just 73.5.
