President Abinader in Ecuador for Guillermo Lasso inauguration

President Luis Abinader traveled on Sunday, 23 May 2021 to Ecuador to attend the inauguration of Guillermo Lasso as the new President of Ecuador. He arrived to Ecuador at 5:20pm. That evening, President Abinader attended a dinner offered by current President Lenin Moreno to the visiting heads of government and state.

The inauguration is set to take place Monday, 24 May 2021 with a ceremony at the National Congress of Ecuador, followed by a luncheon for VIP visitors hosted by the new President of Ecuador. President Abinader is scheduled to return to Santo Domingo on Monday, 24 May.

Traveling with President Abinader are Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez; the President’s chief of staff, Eilyn Beltrán; his personal assistant Mercedes Pichardo and chief of security, Major General Celin Rubio. The Dominican delegation to the inauguration includes Dominican ambassador to Ecuador, Miledys de Cabral, and the director of press and information, Daniel García Archibald.
