Strengthening of the health protocol of the border market of Dajabón with Haiti

Following the state of emergency declared in Haiti due to the confirmation of Brazilian and English Covid-19 variants in Haitian territory, traders and public health authorities in Dajabón have doubled their health protocol on the border market to avoid the spread in Dominican territory of these highly contagious variants.

Haiti Libre reports that despite this alarming information provided by the Haitian authorities, the border market between Haitians and Dominicans continues every Monday and Friday. On market days, more than 10,000 merchants from both countries come to trade “normally.”
