The shooting of scenes for Paramount Pictures’ “The Lost City of D” has begun at Dominican locations in Samaná and Pinewood Studios-Lantica Media in Juan Dolio, San Pedro de Macoris.
The film cast is Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum, Patti Harrison, Da Vine Joy Randolph and Daniel Radcliff. The plot is about a reclusive romance novelist (Sandra Bullock) on a book tour with her cover model (Channing Tatum) and how the author gets swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them both in a cutthroat jungle adventure. Brothers Aaron and Adam Nee are the directors of the action, romance and adventure film.
This new film continues to evidence the popularity of the natural settings locations of the Dominican Republic for American films. Other US films that have been shot here recently are: “Old,” by M. Night Shyamalan, “Shotgun Wedding,” by Jason Moore, or “Arthur The King,” by Simon Cellan Jones.
“The fact that the country was selected to shoot the film says a lot about the growth of the film industry and the positioning of the Dominican Republic as an important film destination in the region,” Maria Avellaneda of Lantica Media told Listin Diario. She said the photography shooting would last for around ten weeks.
