The Ministry of Public Administration (MAP) issued Resolution No. 100-2021 reestablishing teleworking for government employees in Greater Santo Domingo due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in the capital city area. The modality is applied in all cases where the nature of the work does not necessarily require the presence of the employee.
The resolution also establishes intermittent teleworking, which consists of assigning public servants days to work from home and other days to work in public offices, so that no more than 50% of employees coincide in the government work place.
The measures do not apply to public servants outside Greater Santo Domingo that continue under guidelines in Resolution No. 039-2021, dated 19 March 2021 that restored work in government offices.
The present resolution is effective for 45 days as of 28 May 2021.
The announcement comes after two consecutive days of more than 1,700 recorded Covid-19 cases. The cases are only comparable to the highs reported in January 2021 after the Christmas holidays.
