Top Dominican athletes Maria Dimitrova (Pan Am Games golds in karate) and Felix Sanchez (Olympic golds in Athens 2004 and London 2012) announced they are expecting their first child.
Dimitrova is a Pan American Games and Central American and Caribbean Games gold medallist for the Dominican Republic. She called her pregnancy a blessing.
She wrote in her Instagram account that she is motivated “to continue her sport and family career together with Felix to reach new goals and new horizons.” “… I will continue to train and teach in my school @dimitrovatrainingacademy, and prepare to raise the Dominican flag again with pride, in my new role as a mother!,” wrote Dimitrova.
She closed her message with a “Happy Mother’s Day to my dear mommy and to all the Super Women of the Dominican Republic.”
“Super Sánchez” also shared the news. “We are so blessed to have met in the midst of a worldwide pandemic…. This is even a much bigger blessing!,” he wrote.
“As in everything since we got together, we have been an excellent team. My love, my friend and partner. This journey will be no different and I am so excited that we will be hand in hand every step of the way. I love you and can’t wait for our new addition,” he wrote in Instagram.
