Jail in-person visits on hold again for Covid-19

After 55 inmates tested positive for Covid-19, the Penitentiary System authorities banned visits to inmates to the 41 jails located around the country, as reported in El Nuevo Diario. The announcement is made following the recommendations of the public health authorities. The measure will be in place until the present outbreak is controlled. The Dominican Republic is under the effects of a third wave of Covid-19 spread that has caused positive cases to surge above the 1,000 daily case mark.
