Ministry of Tourism issues rules that apply to vacation sites nationwide

Resorts and vacation centers have been operating under less restrictive guidelines, but on occasion of the new spike in Covid-19 cases, the government issued Decree 349-21 dated 31 May 2021 ordering more restrictions. On 2 June, and on occasion of the Corpus Christi long weekend, the Ministry of Tourism has issued a series of rules that apply to vacation centers nationwide.

These are:
Hotels must limit their occupancy to 70%. The measure will be revised every 30 days.

Restaurants located in residential-touristic complexes need to respect the curfew schedule established in Decree 349-21 that is 50% of capacity and no more than six persons per table. The resolution specifies this includes Cap Cana, Casa de Campo and locations in Punta Cana.

In the touristic locations of Las Terrenas in Samana and Cabarete in Puerto Plata, restaurants are allowed to remain open until 7pm. Nevertheless, the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is banned from 3pm to 5am as for the rest of the country through 9 June 2021.

As of Thursday, 3 June 2021 and through Sunday, 6 June 2021, there is a ban on the sale of day passes to resorts and the hosting of events at the resorts. The guests at hotels and resorts must adhere to the curfew hours when leaving the resorts.

The sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in water parks, themed parks, ranches, etc. is banned.

The use of water skis and banana boats is banned nationwide. Also the use of motorcycles, four wheels within the beaches. The use of tents for camping is also banned on the beaches.

There is a ban on all parties, concerts and events that bring crowding to resorts and hotels. Discotheques and nightclubs are ordered to remain closed.

The use of hookahs or similar devices is banned nationwide, even inside resorts and hotels.

Within the resort complexes, guests need to maintain the physical distancing protocols. Activities and events cannot take place after 9pm.

Boating activities need to be limited to 60% of the capacity. The sale and consumption of alcohol is banned on boating outings. In ranching and water parks, occupancy needs to be a maximum of 50%.
