
What’s up for grabs is the last slot to play in the Tokyo Olympics baseball tournament. Venezuela (ranked 8th), the Dominican Republic (ranked 10th) and the Netherlands (ranked 9th) will battle it out after Australia declined from participating. The winner will join Japan, Israel, Korea, Mexico and USA, teams that have already qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation announced the schedule on 14 June 2021. The games will be played from 22-26 June in Puebla, Mexico at the Estadio de Béisbol Hermanos Serdán, home to the Pericos de Puebla team of the Mexican Baseball League.
The tournament schedule is:
Tuesday, 22 June: 5pm: DR vs Venezuela
Wednesday, 23 June 5pm: Venezuela vs. Netherlands
Thursday, 24 June 5pm: Netherlands vs. DR
Friday, 25 June 5pm: Semifinal 3rd vs 2nd
Saturday, 26 June 1pm: Semifinal winner vs 1st place of Round Robin Game 4 winner vs. semifinal 1st
Sunday, 27 June All Day: Rained out games (if necessary)
