
The Soberano Awards are the Oscars night for Dominican performers. Tune in to Color Visión Channel 9 for an overview of the entertainment business in the Dominican Republic. The Soberano Awards is the most lavish and complete show business extravaganza carried out every year. It did not take place in 2020 due to Covid-19 so this year’s awards encompass two years – 2019 and 2020.
The Dominican Association of Show Business Chroniclers (Acroarte) is the organizer. Cervecería Nacional Dominicana, the Presidente beer brewery, is the lead sponsor.
The members of Acroarte voted for the nominees. The general public, though is being asked to vote online for the winners on the awards website.
The hosts of the show this year are Caroline Aquino and Clarissa Molina. René Brea is the producer.
Dozens of leading Dominican artists will perform from the stage of the Teatro La Fiesta of the Hotel Jaragua. Taking the stage on 15 June are Juan Luis Guerra, Fernando Villalona and Miriam Cruz, Gabriel Pagan, Omega, Hector Acosta (El Torito), Manny Cruz, Eddy Herrera, and Frank Reyes, among others. Admission to the theater hall is limited due to Covid-19.
Color Vision (Channel 9) is airing the show for local audiences, Televisión Dominicana (Channel 4) for US audiences.
