New flights cleared to begin as soon as the pandemic allows

The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) of the Dominican Republic continues to approve regular and charter flights requests to the Dominican Republic.

Swoop Airlines of Canada is one of the most recent to get clearance. The JAC approved 148 winter season flight operations from November 2021 to April 2022 from Ontario destinations to Punta Cana for the low-fare Canadian carrier.

The same is true for Russia. Dominican ambassador in Russia Hans Dannenberg explains the aviation companies are positioning themselves to be ready for when the skies are open again. Azur Air, Nordwind and Rossiya have requested approval for dozens of flights to serve Russian and area tourists. Russia has not authorized the start of flights to the Dominican Republic yet.

Expectations are that the combination of local controls plus widespread vaccination campaigns will enable certain normalcy to tourism come the winter 2021 season. The Dominican government has spent billions and seeks to have vaccinated most of the population in time for the start of the fall school season.
