Former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez denied for the second time permission to leave the country

Former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez attempted to leave the Dominican Republic on 24 June 2021. As reported, he spent nine hours at the Las Americas International Airport but was not allowed to board a regular flight.

The former top prosecutor had booked a flight on low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines flight NK-378 to Florida. After his booking was canceled, Rodriguez booked a flight on another airline, but on neither was he allowed to eave.

Rodriguez’s family left the country in November 2020. Rodriguez would have taken the same private flight to the United States but was also not allowed to leave. At the time, it was said his family was headed to France where he was scheduled for a medical check up.

Rodríguez has not been formally charged, but his actions are under investigation by the justice department and the Anti-Corruption Prosecution Agency (Pepca).
