
Dominican children’s book author, Lucia Amelia Cabral won the first National Library Children’s Literature Award. The award comes with a RD$1 million cash prize.
Culture Minister Carmen Heredia made the announcement. The members of the jury that chose Cabral were Bruno Rosario Candelier, director de la Dominican Academy of Language; Julio Cuevas, literature professor at the UASD; Manuel García Arévalo, president of the volunteer program at the Pedro Henrique National Library (BNPHU); Alicia Baroni, director of the Children and Youth Library of the Dominican Republic and Rafael Peralta Romero, director of the BNPHU.
Cabral will receive the award in a ceremony on 16 August 2021.
