The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) announced the shutdown of the first businesses for irregular resale of telecommunication company Internet services. The closed telecom shops are located in northeastern Cotuí in Sánchez Ramírez province and Palenque in southern San Cristóbal province.
A press release from Indotel says that after the first shutdowns, other businesses have desisted from the clandestine sales offerings.
Nelson Arroyo, president of Indotel, says that Indotel inspections are carried out after telecom companies complained of the business actions that degrade the quality of the Internet service.
