Ministry of Education ordered to repeat tender for e-devices for remote learning

The Procurement Agency (DGCP) ordered the Ministry of Education to again hold new bidding procedures for at least 45 of the 56 tenders for purchase of electronic devices for public school students and teachers. The Ministry of Education had carried out the emergency tenders in December 2020 to provide laptops, notebooks, tablets for students and public school teachers. The Ministry of Education has spent most of its resources in advancing remote learning programs.

As reported in Diario Libre, the 45 annulled orders add up to 639,000 electronic devices. The bids for RD$9.35 billion now need to be rescheduled incorporating the corrections in the procedures as ordered by the Procurement Agency.

The public school year ends this 29 July. The Ministry has said the school year will reopen in September but has not yet announced a date.
