
Supreme Court of Justice president Luis Henry Molina Peña appointed Supreme Court judge Napoleon Ricardo Estevez Lavandier the special instruction judge for the Attorney General’s Office case against deputy Rosa Amalia Pilarte (La Vega-PRM).
The charges of corruption against Pilarte Lopez will be heard by the Supreme Court judge in comply with the privileged jurisdiction ordered by Dominican legislation.
The announcement comes on 6 July 2021, a day after the Public Prosecutor’s Office had requested the appointment of the judge.
The Special Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Prosecutor’s Office and the La Vega Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against Pilarte’s husband Miguel Arturo López Florencio, alias Miky López, and four others accused of being part of an alleged drug money laundering network.
Others included in the investigation are the two sons of Lopez and Pilarte, Miguel Arturo López Pilarte and José Miguel López Pilarte, Ada María Pilarte and José Antonio Román, and the companies Auto Crédito Selecto, SRL, Servi Crédito Selecto, SRL, Agropecuaria Gloria Ivette, SRL and Inmobiliaria Gloria Ivette, SRL.
Rosa Amalia Pilarte was elected deputy for La Vega for the today ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in the July 2020 general election.
