Dr. Jorge Marte Baez, medical director of the Center for Diagnosis, Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine (Cedimat), called for the Dominican population to get vaccinated. He said the death of legendary radio broadcaster Willie Rodriguez is a clear example of the lethality of the powerful Covid-19 virus. Dr. Marte Baez revealed that Rodriguez had his two doses of Sinovac vaccine. He said this death reaffirms the need the population vaccinated with Sinovac to receive a third booster dose with a different vaccine.
“This is the moment to say look, Willie even with the two vaccines succumbed to this terrible disease. The best way to fight it is to get vaccinated, and the Dominican state has already made it known that the official government scheme is to make available the third vaccine for the people,” said Dr. Marte Baez.
The medical director of Cedimat expressed his sorrow for the death of Rodríguez who is known as one of the most outstanding radio station directors of all times. Rodriguez had been hospitalized at Cedimat for 10 days after suffering complications for Covid-19.
Dr. Marte said during a Z101 morning program that the medics did everything humanly possible to save the life of the director of the Z101 radio station.
“On behalf of the institution, on behalf of the doctors, on behalf of all the staff, paramedics, nurses, we feel extremely saddened by Willie’s death. Perhaps this is not necessary, but I want to testify before the nation, because we really did everything that was humanly possible to save Willie”, Dr. Marte Baez said speaking during the El Gobierno de la Mañana talk program.
