The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) suspended flights to and from Haiti. Resolution 144-2021 dated 7 July 2021. The JAC says an exception is being made to allow aircraft to land at La Isabela International Airport exclusively bringing Dominican nationals and foreign diplomatic personnel duly accredited in the Republic of Haiti. These passengers must carry the documents that prove they are Dominicans or have diplomatic status.
The JAC explained that Article 9 of the International Civil Aviation Convention establishes that each contracting state reserves the right, in exceptional circumstances, during a period of emergency or in the interest of public safety, to restrict or prohibit temporarily and with immediate effect flights over all or part of its territory.
