Passengers from Spain need to present recent PCR or antigen tests

Tourism Minister David Collado says passengers arriving from Spain need to present a negative PCR or antigen test starting next Wednesday, 14 July 2021. The results need to have been obtained 72 hours before the flight. Spain is a major source of tourists from the DR with many direct flights.

In June, the DR began to require negative Covid-19 tests for passengers from 18 countries where new variants of the virus are circulating. The first 18 countries for which PCR or antigen tests were required are: Australia, Brazil, Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Ireland, Kuwait, Monaco, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, South Africa, Sweden, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia and the United Kingdom.

The Dominican government has yet to announce measures that would affect travel from the United States, where the Delta variant is becoming the prevalent Covid-19 virus in circulation. Meanwhile, the US government requires that travelers test for PCR or antigen before returning to the United States. Resorts and hotels have set up testing stations for their guests on site or assist their guests in getting the tests.
