Vaccination cards to be required to attend in person learning at Dominican universities

The Ministry of Superior Education (Mescyt) confirmed that in person university classes reopen in August 2021 but students will need to present their vaccination cards to attend.

Superior Education Minister Franklin García Fermín announced on Monday, 12 July 2021 that the agreement was reached with university directors. He said the students who have not yet received the two doses will need to continue their studies via remote learning.

The minister urged university community to get vaccinated against the disease. He said it is “the only way” to overcome the pandemic.

Already some universities have reopened for in person learning for a selection of courses, but most of the higher education centers continue to teach virtually.

Last week the Government announced that the pre-university school year 2021-2022 will start in September in a face-to-face manner.
