Celebratory welcome home for Olympic medalists

Dominican weightlifting bronze medallist Crismery Santana (-87 kg) and Zacarias Bonnat (81 kg), silver, return on Thursday, 5 August to the Dominican Republic with the rest of the Dominican delegation that completed their events in Tokyo 2020. The Weightlifting Federation has prepared a welcome celebration.

With a bronze in -87 kg weightlifting, Crismery Santana made sports history for the Dominican Republic in the Tokyo Olympics when on 31 July 2021 she became the first Dominican woman to win an Olympic medal. She lifted 267 kg in the snatch and clean & jerk events. She placed behind China’s Zhouyu Wang and Ecuador’s Tamara Salazar.

Bonnat won the silver medal in the 81 kg category in weightlifting on 31 July 2021. He lifted 163 in snatch, and 204 in clean & jerk for a total of 367.
