ProDominicana launches market intelligence and regulations service for exporters

Pro Dominicana, the Dominican Export and Investment Agency, announces the availability of a market intelligence and market requirements information platform — Requisitos de Acceso a Mercados Internacionales (RAMI).

Executive director Biviana Riveiro said that the updated information is essential for local exporters to compete in international markets. The platform carries a breakdown of all regulatory requirements to export to key markets. She said the new tool is a work in progress that will be constantly improved and updated. She stressed its importance of accessing international markets for efficient decision-making.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Industry & Commerce (MICM) Vilma Arbaje highlighted the tool will help reduce the returns and detentions of Dominican shipments abroad. Frequently products have been returned when the exports do not meet the standards of quality, labeling, presentation, pesticide levels, design, packaging, among other requirements to access a market.

Odile Miniño, executive vice-president of Adoexpo, welcomed ProDominicana’s initiative. She said it is part of the objectives of the National Export Promotion Plan. She also highlighted the importance of the tool in identifying new strategic markets for exports.
