
The central government announced several vaccination sites that are now open in the nighttime in August and September 2021. The sites will open from 6pm until 10pm Wednesdays through Fridays and from 7pm until 11pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
The vaccination stations are open at shopping malls, and movie theaters — Caribbean Cinemas, Silver Sun Gallery, Cinemacentro Malecon, Plaza Duarte Carrefour in Santo Domingo and Coral Mall (Santiago).
In the Colonial City, vaccinations will be available at night at several popular parks — Palo Hincado, Cristobal Colón, Enriquillo and Duarte.
A similar program is in place in Santiago where you can get vaccinated in the evening at. the Artists Boulevard, at the Monumento and at Cinemacentro.
The new vaccination sites are to reach out to young people to get vaccinated. The number of vaccinated per day has been consistently dropping. It was at a low of 43,866 for the 6 August deadline. The seven-day vaccination average is 51,342 as of 6 August 2021. The DR has capacity to vaccinate upwards of 100,000 persons a day. As of 7 August, 5,617,370 first doses had been applied, 4,366,182 second doses of Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccines and 461,189 third booster shots (Pfizer).
