Mega projects allocated for construction in Northwest

President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña spent the weekend in the Cibao. They held the meeting of government ministers in Valverde. There, President Abinader announced public investment for US$29 billion to be made in the northwestern provinces. The works are contemplated to be begun in the second semester of 2021 and the first semester of 2022.

He said most of the projects will be carried out within the new public-private alliance modality framework. The infrastructure works include the Manzanillo port and industrial complex, a mega project for which the government expects US$100 million in Interamerican Development Bank financing. “I do not doubt that with this investment, the Northwest Line will change radically for the better,” said the President.

Other projects are the completion of public hospitals, refurbishment of primary care units and investment in clean energy.

Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención spoke of the general plans for asphalting and sidewalk construction in the northwestern municipalities.
