A report in Listin Diario observes that two of the lead accused in the Operación 13 (case of the rigged National Lottery draw), and the Operación Medusa on corruption at the Attorney General Office under Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez have not turned themselves in.
State prosecutors are on the trail of Leonidas Medina Arvelo accused in the Operation 13 case and Rafael Canó Sacco, who served as the cabinet director at the Attorney General and is a lead suspect of corruption as prosecutors indicate in the Operation Medusa case.
Canó Sacco is sought since Judge Kenya Romero began the hearings into the case in June 2021. Canó Sacco is described as one of the closest aides of former chief prosecutor Rodriguez Sánchez. Canó Sacco is accused of using his influence in the Attorney General Office to direct major purchases and of getting a cut of the purchases. One of the winners of an important bid Daniel Elías Manzur Baez is said to be a business partner of Canó Sacco.
