Milagros Ortiz Bosch honored in Congress

Former Vice President Milagros Ortis Bosch was honored in the Senate for her six years of service in an event held at the National Congress on 23 August 2021. She was honored for her exercise of transparency, honesty and general contributions to the country as a senator, Vice President of the Republic (2000-2004) and politician. On 23 August she was celebrating her 85th birthday.

President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña were present for the recognition made by the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.

Ortiz Bosch serves as ethics director in the Abinader administration.

Speaking during the event, Ortiz Bosch called for the carrying out of a comprehensive economic, social and political initiative, saying that fiscal reforms in the country have not achieved what has been sought. She criticized past reforms. The Abinader administration seeks to introduce a fiscal reform bill to Congress this year in time for it to be effective in 2022.

Speaking at the event, Eduardo Estrella (Dominicanos por el Cambio-Santiago) said: “With this recognition of Doña Milagros, a very important message is sent to Dominican youth, who today are bombarded by events that promote anti-values, that it is urgent that we unfold the reference of what is good, the positive, so that this and future generations are convinced that being honest is profitable, that politics has and needs people of integrity, that it is possible to be honest.”
