
President Luis Abinader attended the ground-breaking for construction of 129 tourist villas at The Royal Lake Village by Lifestyle in Cofresí, Puerto Plata. Lifestyle is the leading tourism employer in Puerto Plata province. Tourism Minister David Collado accompanied him. Eduardo Estrella, president of the Senate and senator for Santiago, and the senator of Puerto Plata, Ginette Bournigal congratulated the government for the works carried out.
During their trip to Puerto Plata, President Abinader also attended the inauguration of the Gregorio Luperon Touristic Road from Santiago to Puerto Plata. The Abinader government gave continuity to the repairs of the 40.3 km mountain road that connects from Santiago crossing the Central Mountain Range. The panoramic road is used by those headed for Sosua and eastern beaches in Puerto Plata province.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Gregorio Luperon road, Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención said the “carretera turística” has been designed according to international engineering standards for mountain infrastructure that must protect the mountain slope and avoid landslides that frequently have paralyzed traffic in the past.
The renovated road benefits the communities of Cuesta de Piedra, Palo Quemado, La Cumbre, Lajas de Yaroa, Yásica Abajo, Yásica Arriba, Tubagua, Pedro García. It exits to Puerto Plata near Montellano. The blessing was given by Puerto Plata Bishop Julio César Corniel.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Gregorio Luperon road, President Abinader said that the road would be extended another 10 km from Gurabo road to the Estrella Sadhalá Avenue in Santiago.
Abinader was present for the start of renovation works at Sosua Beach. The RD$350 million initiative calls for better locating the vendors and organizing the popular beach in general.
During his tour of developments in Puerto Plata, the renovated Templo de las Americas in La Isabela and the renovated Isabela Settlement Park were also inaugurated.
