
Since the change of government authorities, the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) says it has confiscated 30,045.49 kilograms of different types of drugs.
From 19 August 2020 to 10 August 2021, the new authorities have seized 23,984.19 kg of narcotics locally and 6,061.30 kg in international seizures in which the Dominican agency has participated.
In these operations, law enforcement agencies apprehended 16,049 persons, 94% of whom were Dominicans and the remaining 6% were foreigners. Likewise, 165 firearms were seized; 1,766 vehicles seized, US$5,233,824 and RD$15,416,951.
The authorities deported 61 persons as part of the measures to counteract drug trafficking, states the report prepared by the DNCD.
In addition to the DNCD, the Ministry of Defense of the Dominican Republic (MIDE), the National Police, the National Investigation Department (DNI) and the Dominican Armada are participating in the operations against international drug trafficking.
