President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado attended the symbolic start of construction of the Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo hotel in Piantini, National District. The 17-floor hotel will be built at Freddy Prestol Castillo corner Porfirio Herrera in the thriving residential and commercial Piantini district. The hotel is scheduled to open in summer 2023.
The hotel is an investment of Grupo Poma/Real Hotels & Resorts of El Salvador. Company spokesman Fernando Poma says the company is encouraged by the Dominican Republic’s favorable, friendly and safe environment for long-term investments. The company already operates the Quality Hotel Real Aeropuerto Santo Domingo and the Real Intercontinental Santo Domingo.
Alberto Poma, executive director for Grupo Roble and Matt Knights, general manager Marriott Internacional for the Dominican Republic, were present for the event. This is the 22nd hotel property to be operated by Real Hotels & Resorts.
There is already a Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo located at Av. Maximo Gomez.
