
Tokyo 2020 silver medallist, Marileidy Paulino ran 50.40 to defeat Barbadian Sada Williams of Barbados (50.7) and Quanera Hayes of the USA (51.66) in the 400m in the Wanda Diamond League Meeting held in Lausanne, Switzerland on 26 August 2021. It was the first European stop for the Diamond League racers after the Tokyo Olympics.
For the Dominican track star, it was her first Diamond race after her 400 m win in the Tokyo Olympics where she did a personal best time of 49.20. She picked up eight points for the Diamond League competition. She will next compete in Paris, France on 28 August as she accumulates points for the Zurich 8-9 September 2021 finals. Her win in Lausanne ranked her 4th in the Wanda Diamond League competition.
Paulino also picked up US$10,000 in cash money in the Lausanne race.
