The Superior Council of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (CSMP) annulled the Fifth Competitive Examination for Prosecutorial Candidates called on 30 January 2020 to fill positions in different judicial districts nationwide. Former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez Sanchez, today in jail awaiting trial for corruption in office, had called the competition.
The governing body of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the CMSP established that difficulties caused by the pandemic had made it impossible to ensure the reliability of the results of the academic tests and the transparency of the process to hire new prosecutors called by then Attorney General Rodriguez Sánchez. The CSMP also ruled on the irregularities of the 25 June 2020 resolution that modified the terms and conditions of the contest.
The decision affects some 220 appointments made in prosecutor offices in Azua, Barahona, Dajabón, Distrito Nacional, Duarte, Elías Piña, Espaillat, Hato Mayor, Hermanas Mirabal, Independencia, La Altagracia, La Romana, La Vega, Las Matas de Farfán, María Trinidad Sánchez and Monseñor Nouel.
