Marileidy Paulino is again a double winner

Dominican Republic’s outstanding middle-distance runner, 24-year old Marileidy Paulino grabbed the Wanda Diamond League Meeting 400m track event in Paris, France with a 50.21 time. The runner-ups in the race were Sada Williams of Barbados (50.30) and Olympian gold medalist Alyson Felix of the USA (50.47).

In Lausanne, Switzerland, Paulino had won the same race clocking in 50:40 time earlier in the week.

Paulino now accumulates 16 points for the Zurich, 8-9 September 2021 grand prize of US$30,000. Each race in the prestigious track circuit delivers US$10,000 in cash.

Paulino’s next race will be in Brussels, Belgium on 3 September 2021.

In July, Paulino became the first Dominican woman to medal in an Olympic Games when she won the silver in the 4 x 400m mixed relay. She would then become the only Dominican to have ever won two medals in an Olympic Games when she won the gold in the 400m race in the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The Diamond League gathers elite track and field athletes that compete in 14 of the best invitational athletics meetings. The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics (formerly known as the IAAF) one-day meeting competitions.
