Narcotics Agency seizes 900 kilos of cocaine

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) reports the seizing of 900 kilos of suspected cocaine after the pursuit of a speed boat in Dominican Caribbean waters. For over seven hours, agents of the DNCD, with the support of the Dominican Navy, intelligence agencies and Public Prosecutor’s Office, followed the speed boat along the eastern coast until it ran aground near Boca Chica. The individuals on board fled but were arrested by tactical teams of the DNCD who had mounted a parallel land operation. Intelligence reports had tracked the boat from South America. On board were 30 packages of the suspected cocaine for a total of 900 kilos.

The authorities report three men (two Colombians and one Dominican) were apprehended. The DNCD is in pursuit of others.

The cargo was sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine the type and exact weight of the substance.

The operation adds to the more than 30,000 kg of drugs seized since the change of authorities in August 2020.
