Dominican winter baseball league games start 27 October 2021

Visiting tourists will be less than an hour’s drive away from watching one of the Dominican Professional Winter League (Lidom) once the tournament resumes next month. Games start on 27 October and will continue through the end of January.

The season will have 40 games that makes it shorter than usual. The regular season will end on 17 December 2021. The four best teams will play a roundrobin starting 19 December.

The Dominican teams are the Escogido, Licey (Santo Domingo, National District), Toros (La Romana), Estrellas (San Pedro de Macoris, Juan Dolio), Gigantes (San Francisco de Macoris) and Aguilas (Santiago). Mondays and Thursdays are the off days, left open for games that are suspended for rain or other reasons.

Next the Caribbean Series will take place in Santo Domingo (National District), with the best teams from the region seeing action from 28 January to 3 February 2022.

The Dominican Professional Baseball League (Lidom) says the stadiums can receive up to 80% of capacity, keeping with Covid-19 protocols.
