The United States Department of Homeland Security announced on Tuesday, 14 September 2021 that a person needs to be fully vaccinated (two doses) to apply for permanent residence in the United States. Proof of vaccination is required. The measure is effective 1 October 2021. The vaccination requirement is needed to complete the immigration medical examination, according to the US Center for Immigration Services.
USCIS states it may grant waivers based on age, medical or supply reasons. According to the Homeland Security agency, people can also apply for waivers based on religious beliefs or moral conventions.
