China donates US$100,000 to combat swine fever

The government of the People’s Republic of China, through its embassy in Santo Domingo, donated US$100,000 (RD$5.7 million pesos) to the Ministry of Agriculture. The donation is a collaboration to combat African swine fever. The resources will strengthen the Control and Eradication of ASF Program implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and other agricultural agencies at the national level in support of swine producers.

Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz received the donation from Chinese ambassador Zhang Run. Also present were the administrator of the state Agriculture Bank (Bagrícola), Fernando Durán; the president of Casa de China, Félix Aracena; the president of the Dominican-Chinese Friendship Group of the Chamber of Deputies, Betty Gerónimo Santana; Rosa Ng, former representative of the Commercial Office of the Dominican Republic in China, and Chinese businessmen.
