
The Attorney General Office announced the director of the money laundering and terrorism financing division Luis Gonzalez has been fired. He had been suspended. Ramona Nova was appointed director of the important division of the Attorney General Office. Nova was the chief prosecutor in San Pedro de Macoris
The Superior Council of the Public Ministry acted with the removal of Gonzalez after findings of audits carried out of the department by the Inspector General of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Juan Medina. Luis Gonzalez was appointed to the position during the term of Jean Alain Rodriguez as head of the Attorney General Office.
The move coincides with Operation Falcon, one of the most extensive cocaine and money laundering operations of the Attorney General Office in its history.
