Community groups in the barrios that ring the Isabela River to the north of the National District are proposing investments that would enable local and international tourists to take a safe dip in the waters of the Isabela River and the pure water springs that feed the river that surrounds the capital city.
A local foundation called Fundasurza is promoting the idea. Its members propose to clean up the refuse, mostly plastic, in the areas. They are stressing the need for the community to take an active part in protecting this resource.
A spokesman for the foundation is asking President Abinader to complete the construction of an ecological roadway that begins at the Avenida del Puerto down on the Ozama, and would end at the Mirador del Norte Park in Santo Domingo North municipality.
