On 16 September 2021, at a public hospital maternity unit in East Santo Domingo, a woman snatched a newborn baby and disappeared. Thanks to good police work on the weekend, the baby was returned to mom, healthy and safe.
According to Police sources, Fatima Altagracia Sosa had stolen the baby from the San Lorenzo Maternity Hospital in Los Mina in East Santo Domingo. She then took the baby to her mother’s home in barrio Libertad in Herrera. Once there, she told her mother that she had given birth at a hospital in Herrera. As reported, about a week later, she told the truth. The authorities are on the lookout for the accused baby snatcher.
