Drug-loaded plane crash lands in Pedernales; authorities on the trail of the occupants

The occupants of a small Cessna made a forced landing after a Super Tucano of the Air Force was in their pursuit in Oviedo, Pedernales province in the southwest.

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) reported that the small aircraft had illegally entered Dominican airspace, which prompted the Dominican Air Force to send an A-29 SuperTucano plane to follow it.

After the pursuit and in the early hours of Thursday morning (30 September 2021), the aircraft occupants carried out the forced landing in the community of Manuel Goya in Oviedo, Pedernales.

The DNCD reports the plane would have flown in from South America.

A rigorous inspection discovered two compartments with 100 packages. 175 packages of a substance presumed to be cocaine had already been found inside the aircraft in a first search. Another two were found in the area around where the plane had landed for a total of 277 packages.

The aircraft’s fuselage was in very bad condition after the accident.
