Making Samana better; Ministry of Tourism improves infrastructure

President Luis Abinader was in Samaná province on Monday, 18 October 2021 where he announced the start of new infrastructures. The President announced the start of construction of a dock for fisher boats in Sánchez and a plaza for the fishermen and restaurants in coordination with the Samana municipality. RD$500 million is being made available for improvements in the Samana City boardwalk, and the paving of the road from Samana to the Las Galeras beach town.

Minister of Tourism David Collado said the government is investing RD$176 million pesos in Las Galeras in the Vendors Plaza with 25 stands, including 16 restaurants and two arts and crafts stations. The initiative underway also calls for the rehabilitation of the pedestrian access to the beach and improvements to storm drainage system in the municipal district.

The works were approved and are funded by the executing Committee for Infrastructures in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur) of the Ministry of Tourism.
