Diario Libre publishes in its 25 October 2021 issue the remarks of deputies who participated in a work session where their high wages and perks were discussed. The deputies argue that many of the same perks are enjoyed by other government officers and by private business. The media has been focusing on the high wages and perks legislators receive describing these as political patronage and wasteful spending of taxpayer contributions.
